Nowadays, organizations rely less on internal employees and more on temporary contract staff. Yours is probably one of these. But, there are two huge problems with today’s business intelligence and data warehousing staffing model:
1) With their broad-brush approach, most staffing providers just aren’t focused enough in data management to identify candidates with the level of business intelligence / data warehousing / data management expertise you need. So, you bring on one of their resources and they just don’t work out. In fact, you may spin through a few of these until you get one who is OK. What is the cost when your organization brings on a new resource that doesn’t work out?
2) You could turn to specialty technology consulting firms but these generally charge a minimum of $150 – $300 per hour of consultant time. Can your budget cover the $300,000 – $600,000 annual cost for just one resource?
When our consulting clients asked us to supply staff, and they weren’t in a position to pay our traditional ($200 / hour) consulting rates, we realized that there had to be a better way. Thus, we developed the No Misfires approach to BI / DW/ DM staffing. No Misfires quickly gives you experienced, competent resources who fit the personality of your organization at a reasonable price. The No Misfires approach is built around two key facts: 1) Our clients suffer real expense and business pain when they bring on non-performing contractors, and 2) To know whether a BI / DW / DM candidate is ‘for real’, the recruiter, himself, must be an experienced BI / DW / DM expert.
We have a 25+ year track record in business intelligence, data warehousing, and data management. We provide expert resources in technologies such as:
In most cases we provide staff at a fixed rate, including all expenses, of below $100 per hour.
We’ll provide you with candidate resumes within a week and selected candidates can be at your site, ready to start, 1 – 2 weeks after that.
Let’s face it – some contractors are good and some should pursue different careers. Most contracting houses employ both kinds. And when you have a need, they’ll send you the best that they have at that moment. This works well… sometimes. But, when the best they have isn’t really fit for your job, you pay the price in lost time and wasted resources, bringing on contractors who ultimately let you down.
As opposed to most contract houses, we identify candidates in two places: 1) our database of consultants who’ve been successful on past projects and 2) a scan of the market, skimming the cream from all available sources. However, identifying prospects is just the start. We then subject candidates to intense screening. In addition to extreme technical competence we also screen for success indicators like verbal skills, personality, and experience in your industry. Further, candidates are interviewed by experts with 20+ years in BI, DW and DM, not by traditional recruiters.
In the end, between 1% and 5% of possible candidates pass through our screen. We then send these on for one final interview – an interview with you to ensure that we’ve hit the mark. Does your current staffing provider provide this level of scrutiny?
After assignments of six or more months, most Dataspace contractors are available for you to hire with no additional fee.
All selected contractors are subjected to criminal background checks before being authorized to start on projects.
Dataspace is covered by insurance policies in the areas required by virtually all companies including workers compensation, liability, and professional errors and omissions.
Close but no, not perfect. However, our clients, some of the largest companies in the US, tell us that their success rate with staff from Dataspace is far higher than from any of their other vendors.
